The Market
The day-ahead auction is the auction with the highest volume in German spot markets. Most importantly:
- It happens every day at 12pm for the following day
- The contract length is 60 minutes
- Multiple European countries are coupled via the Single Day-ahead Coupling (SDAC)
- The day-ahead price curve is the most relevant index for many dynamic electricity pricing schemes
- The market is a pay-as-cleared market meaning that all market participants will be paying/receiving the market clearing price
